Molise cannot boast a prestigious wine-making tradition, although there are some notable wines. The most common white varieties on the Apennine foothills molisani are Trebbiano toscano, Malvasia and Bombino; among the red wines are Aglianico, Montepulciano and Sangiovese.
Among the wines produced the best known is the Biferno, white table wine, red or rosé, particularly suited to accompany traditional dishes. Besides the Biferno, only the Pentro d'Isernia got DOC status. | |
