The area of most Umbrian wine production is around Lake Trasimeno, where the continental climate is tempered by the presence of the Lake and the surrounding hills.
Among the Umbrian wines the most famous is certainly the Orvieto of which there are both dry and sweet type. Excellent also the Torgiano and Montefalco Sagrantino Reserves, which recently got the qualification of DOCG wines. The first is designed to accompany the venison and pork fat; the second one is designated for grilled meats or roasted.
Umbria has also a considerable production of table wine of good quality. |  |
