Together with Apulia and Sicily, Veneto is the region where the wine grape production is higher in terms of quantity; and it is also among the first in terms of production quality, with a good number of DOC wine-growing areas, most notably that of Verona, Vicenza with the area of the Colli Berici (Berici Hills), and Treviso.
A quote to part deserves the province of Venice, where the cultivation of vines is thriving thanks to the climate tempered by proximity to the sea: Merlot, Cabernet and Tokay are the most appreciated wines of the area.
Among the indigenous grapes include Corvina, Bianchetta and Treviso; among those forestiere Barbera and Cabernet Franc. The best-known wines are the Piave, the Colli Berici (Berici Hills), Valpolicella and Soave. | |
